M-Live’s Lopsided Reporting On Czuprynski’s Press Release Failed To Reveal What’s Really ……
The following is Czuprynski’s press release
Attorney Czuprynski Appeals Law License Suspension, and Granted Order Halting Suspension Indefinitely
Bay City attorney Edward Czuprynski appealed a recent ruling by a panel of three local attorneys appointed by the Attorney Discipline Board to suspend his law license for a three month period effective August 21, and he was granted an Order from the Attorney Discipline Board itself to immediately halt the suspension indefinitely. See “Notice of Automatic Stay”, the order that stopped the suspension of Czuprynski’s law license.
Czuprynski hired Mr. Michael Schwartz, one of Michigan’s top attorneys in cases involving issues of professional misconduct cases, to represent him. Mr. Schwartz of Detroit served nearly a decade as the Grievance Administrator of the Attorney Grievance Commission, which brought the charge of professional misconduct against Czuprynski which he vowed to fight. As the Grievance Administrator, Mr. Schwartz served as the chief disciplinary prosecutor and administrator of the prosecution arm of the Michigan Supreme Court for the regulation of the legal profession in Michigan. A renowned lecturer and author, Mr. Schwartz served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Wayne State University, and the University of Detroit School of Law.
A hearing is scheduled in Detroit for October 16 for Czuprynski and the Grievance Administrator of the Attorney Grievance Commission to appear before the Attorney Discipline Board to show cause why the hearing panel’s order of suspension should not be affirmed. Mr. Schwartz will deliver arguments on behalf of Czuprynski.
Czuprynski expressed confidence his law license will not be suspended. “After all,” he remarked, “this whole proceeding involved strictly a landlord/tenant dispute, and nothing I did was illegal, dishonest, destructive or involved any conduct whatsoever as a lawyer. I deflated a tenant’s car tires without damage because she kept parking her car in front of my garage door after I repeatedly asked her to stop it. And I put glue in the lock of her apartment door when she changed the lock and refused to give me a copy of the key. So then I evicted her.”
“I highly doubt,” he continued, “that there’s ever been another attorney under similar circumstances prosecuted for professional misconduct on something so minor that did not involve him as a lawyer. But this was clearly a case of selective enforcement,” he added.
